NFS Rivals Modding Thread

Post

This is very cool, nice job, Hypercycle!
(Btw, your new username is way better, just my opinion).

Keep up the good work!

A question for everybody: Does anybody of you guys know if FrostBite3 Editor Tools will be able to mod NFS Rivals?

It's already capable of doing it, at least to some extent. It recognizes Rivals as a Frostbite game and it reads some of its files.

There's also another editor - Rime - The ultimate third-party Frostbite® mod tools - but the download link doesn't work. The authors claim that their tool partially supports Rivals.

Oh, that's brutally awesome!
It's one of my favourite NFS games (No Joke), and it's a game I'll surely make Mods for, as soon as the tools are ready. In any case, it's good that there are some advances, despite they're minimal.

It's so weird that Rivals. The next game after MW'12 which got the most criticism and the news of it having chances of modding it brings excitement into this thread at least if not the community.

Also like in nearly all games where people mess with the game to drive traffic cars not meant to be driven, mostly crash or something like this. Just look back on all the other NFS titles. And as you discussed a trainer can help fix that :) Good luck

With my tutorial you can get a all cop cars as separate vehicles on racer garage (takes time to do it…).

FrostBite3 Editor was able to open and edit Rivals files,
but can't save 95% of data - that tool give me a error with JavaFX… But i successfully compile a modded default cop car color, lol. I get Caprice model with that tool.

Rime is not released yet, i finded author of editor, they still in works…

Thanks for your all interest. Also you can find NFS14 DifficultyTool, which edits amount and skill of bot cops/racers.

I think that just like in the case of The Run, the criticism was exclusively made by the gaming press, and the players thought both games were worse that they actually are, because of what they have read, so that can explain why the lack of popularity of both games was artificial. In fact, I think MW'12 is a bit overrated, but that's just me. I played MW'12, but it's just not the same as playing Rivals, since in Rivals I get the feel like I'm playing MW'05, but with more features, kinda hard to explain in some way.

Good to know all this, mate!
And thank you for your Mods and bringing the info as well!
I just checked the Rime page and The Run has partial support as well, that's even more good news for the Modding community.
About game engines, is the engine of Burnout Paradise the same, or "compatible" with, HP 2010?
Car Mods for BP are already possible, just check this video:

If I'm not mistaken, HP2010 uses an updated BP engine (Chameleon). It's true that there are addon cars for BP, there's even a Big Surf Island conversion for PC (although not complete).

As for HP2010, there are some mods that unlock hidden cars (from SCPD Rebels Pack DLC and a few more) which were hidden in game files. There's also a mod which brings races from Lamborghini Untamed and Porsche Unleashed DLCs to the PC version, as well as an ability to choose any car for any race. There's no car conversions. though.

funfact: if you drag burnout paradise files into hp2 it can cause the game to crash. (we aren't overwriting any files just Adding some that aren't there in hp2)

shows that the game loads stuff like burnout paradise does though.

Tried out Dragon Age tools for NFS, fail. That tools is able too for reading game data/repacking files, but can't open ebx for some reason.

Atleast, we all now have a great way to ride on cop cars and even paint them (not all, still can't find why)…

Nah, the case with Rivals was mostly blackpanthaaa and his supportive minions talking shit about Craig Sullivan and NFS Rivals (google "#craigitup") for Rivals not meeting their "FnF ripoff" expectations. Right now EA bought the ass of that faggot for unknown amount of jewgolds to make him promote NFS2015, which is essentially Rivals with rice, fucktarded daytime cycle, stupid story and complete lack of offline gameplay, among his minions. And that sorry-ass nigger actually promotes it!

btw, just noticed that the game's McLaren F1 LM model is actually that of XP1 LM (F1 LM's prototype).

I just saw it. Imo Rivals it's better than HP 2010 and MW'12, tho the reasons why I dislike the aforementioned titles has more to do with the vomiting drifting technique. Otherwise, I wouldn't dislike them, those games aren't actually bad. Despite Rivals has it too, it has free races with opponents and no pause menu, not even when a race is finished, it's like if you never stop playing, and that is awesome at the end (A SweetFX preset I made for it also helped too, since its atmosphere is too Dark Souls 1-like for my taste). If EA truly wanted to do hi-speed drifting, it could look at Rige Racer games to have a better inspiration for hi-speed drifting, because in RR games, it's definitely awesome, tho I prefer hand brake drifts.

Sirius-R said

Oh, that's true, this kid thinks UG series is the essence of NFS, but that's totally a lie, the NFS essence is to drive the ultimate sport cars in beautiful places, something that HP 2010, The Run, and Rivals do very well.

Sirius-R said

I noticed this, his way to speaking about NFS 2015 was too suspicious, I can conclude he sold himself out.

Sirius-R said

Oh, the irony…

Sirius-R said

…fucktarded daytime cycle

Something that was done better in Rivals…

Sirius-R said

…Stupid story

All stories in NFS games are cheesy, so don't expect a state-of-the-art story. Regarding NFS 2015 story, it wasn't terrible imo. Nothing is worse than UG1's ending.

Sirius-R said

Well, unless you're a sellout, you'd never promote a "feature" that makes the game obsolete after 5 years, like NFS World. NFS 2015 owners will have to beg for Frostbite 3 tools are compatible with it, otherwise, they will have a nice brick.

Sirius-R said

Unfortunately, the modding tools won't help because the game is protected with Denuvo. Unless someone deals with it, there's no way to create mods or a server emulator.
The good thing is that there are already some cracks for games with Denuvo. BTW, the Frostbite editor reads the game's files just as good as it reads Rivals'.

Well, that gives some hopes, honestly. No matter which game it is, it's never good news that a game can be obsolete.

The drifting technique of CriterionGames' NFS titles is quite similar to that found in NFS2 and PlayStation version of NFS3. As someone who's been playing these games quite often and enjoyed them, I've got hang of CG's drifting mechanics quickly and with ease.
As for Ridge Racer… I recall playing RR2 for PSP. I deleted it quie soon after checking out, as I absolutely hated the handling in it (an arcade game where cars are more difficult to handle than in a simulator, wtf!).

Storylines in NFS games are quite cheesy indeed. IMO Undercover's storyline is the best one of them: it's as cheesy as other NFS storylines, but it at least tries to be somewhat intriguing and twisty, and it can't be shortened to "pwn everyone in your way" (oh, who am I fooling, it can be, though it would be a method of getting things done in there, rather than a whole purpose like in other NFS games, except, maybe, Own the City spinoff and The Run for Nintendo consoles). Most praise the MW2005's storyline, but I personally find it the most ridiculous one ("ZOMG GYPPO STOLE MY BIMMER! GOTTA TAKE IT BACK WITH THE LONGEST, LEAST OBVIOUS AND MOST SENSELESS EFFORT-TAKING METHOD! oh, and I still need it somewhy after owning a, souped up Mercedes SLR/Carrera GT/Murcielago/Viper SRT10/two or three of them- OH WAIT, CARBON RETCONS IT TO REALLY BE DARIUS'S, I WAS TAKING IT BACK FOR HIM LOLZ").

RR cars handling is useless, you have to powerslide all the time (At least in RR 64). RR Unbounded is another story. Handling is very difficult there.

You're right about UC. Although it's the "beat everybody" kind of story, that's not the main plot, since you're an undercover agent there. The main character does some things that prolly won't be seen in anotrher NFS. The plot feels much less "teenager" and more "adult" and possible in that regard, this, I think, was one of the causes of the unpopularity of UC, although its unpopularity was mostly because, I think, it's an excellent idea that was poorly executed. You were meant to make crucial decisions (Like in BioWare games), but you're -once again- put into rails as always. In Chapter 1, for example, you earn the trust of a criminal chief, and you aren't allowed to not betray him. Granted, you were meant to betray trusts for the greater good, but the game ads suggested you could make crucial choices, which it wasn't true.

MW story is, again, a cheesy story, the reason why it was praised is because it was way better implemented than the other games (Cheesy story, great execution). The other thing is that MW characters had charisma.

Sirius-R said

That's why I don't like Carbon's story. It re-made MW's story on purpose to make all things MW (Characters, cars, references, stories and others, that belong to MW) pathethic, and make all things Carbon look like if they're better in every sense than MW's, it's like if the entire Carbon story mocked everything about MW (Kind of a big "fuck you" to MW). I honestly would have prefered if Carbon completely omitted MW's story and it would had centered in its own story and characters.

I downloaded files of NFS Edge. Unfortunately, i can't repack or export any of these files, because there is different file format (das instead of cas, dal instead of cat). I don't know, if that files is just renamed FrostBite resources or have a some security. But i can read a car list:
